Our Mission
Our mission is to find solutions for both the containment of climate change and the adaptation to the effects of climate change.
Our focus is on the efficiency of energy conversion processes because we believe that these are at the heart of the problems we are facing. Everything we do in the broadest sense revolves around energy conversion from one form to another. Although generally the focus of the industry is on the increase of economic value by the applied processes, the net entropic effect on the energy conversion often still takes second stage or is even not considered. E.g. incandescent lighting for over a hundred years was only 10 % efficient for the intended purpose of lighting. It was hardly considered being a problem for most of the time. Only the sense of urgency driven by climate change combined with the validity of the economic considerations supported by political incentives did we manage to get to 90% efficiency with the broad introduction of led lighting. We at Frankovna feel that there is still a lot of opportunity, even considering energy conversions that are part of the processed subject to the biggest contributors of climate change. We realize that essential for the implementation of any proposed solution though are still economic viability, scalability and political acceptability. This sets the threshold of success for new initiatives high and getting to significant implementation will be challenging, but we consider that we should not fail for lack of trying. We bring a lot of experience and knowledge in this initiative with over 60 years of experience in design, engineering and maintenance of both hard and software in some of the most technologically advanced industries and we hope to be able to further expand on this going forward. We know we are not alone in this and initiatives in this field are not new. However we do feel a moral obligation to apply the knowledge and experience we have gathered to save our planet for the generations that come after us and we need to contribute what we can. We should strive to leave the planet to them in a better shape than we received it.
Our Vision
We cast our net wide. We take an abstract view of the problems we want to address and rigorously apply the scientific method to encompass the potential of improvement to the maximum. We expect that the effect of any resulting improvements can cascade broadly over a range of applications where one application area might leverage another thus creating momentum in the industry.
